slow Internet

In this, the second part of ‘Email errors & Slow Internet’ we tackle slow internet connections. No matter how hard you try the browser will not open your page at all or is as slow as a snail. Why is this? Two simple common faults come to mind here – Either your router /broadband provider, or it is your PC system. Let’s try the simple things first! First restart your router (switch it off, wait 10 seconds and restart it) restart your PC. If this worked pat yourself on the back. If it did not work then you may need to contact your internet provider and ask them to do a “Line Check” don’t forget to ask what your internet speed is. Don’t forget to reset your browser (usually under TOOLS – PROPERTIES) clearing cookies and temporary files may help.
What’s the second common fault then? Your PC may be low on resources (Memory to low, hard drive full or fragmented). This can suddenly occur after recent updates where the system is using the system resources in a different way. This although may help the system it is not helping you. Now your PC is feeling the load. So what do you need to do to fix this then? You will need to increase the memory and or you will need to remove some junk from your PC and defragment the system. This gets a little complicated from now on in as there are multiple fixes and tools that could be implemented to speed up your PC and internet slow issues. Try to defragment your PC first. Remove any unnecessary programs. Defrag can be found under your SART menu – ALL PROGRAMS – ACCESSORIES – SYSTEM TOOLS.
